The Clemson football team has had plenty to celebrate this past year. They won the national championship in a dominating win over Alabama, and are in the midst of one of their best recruiting seasons ever. But the Tigers could be poised for another incredible honor from ESPN.
According to Greenville News, the Clemson football team has received an ESPY nominated for Best Team. The other nominees in the category are the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Toronto Raptors, Baylor women’s basketball team, Virginia men’s basketball team, and U.S. women’s national soccer team.
The Red Sox, Raptors and Patriots their respective league titles, while Baylor and Virginia won their NCAA Tournaments. As of writing, the USWNT have secured a third-straight trip to the World Cup Final. They’ll play to defend their 2015 World Cup title on Sunday.

But one could argue that the Tigers own the more impressive accomplishment.
Clemson became the first team in college football history to go 15-0. They won all 12 of their regular season games, the ACC Championship Game, the Cotton Bowl, and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
In the national title game, they stunned No. 1 Alabama to win 44-16, winning their second title in three years over the Crimson Tide.
