Like many other major universities, Clemson has made a big decision amid the coronavirus outbreak. After the end of the school’s spring break, students’ classes will go online only, and they are being asked to stay home until at least March 30.
The measures are very similar to what other schools have done. Considering the breadth and severity of the situation, it is far from the biggest part of this, but schools shutting down could have an impact on spring practice around college football. Clemson is midway through its spring period. The annual spring game was set for April 4.
Head coach Dabo Swinney had to speak on the university’s move just moments after he heard about it. As we’ve seen numerous times, it is very easy for coaches like Swinney to be very insular in their thinking at times like this. By all accounts, he’s handled things quite well though. He spoke to the media moments ago.
Clemson has gotten through nine of its spring practices thus far. Swinney says that if that is the end of spring football, he’s comfortable with where his team stands. He also says he’s listening to experts on how to proceed given the threats presented by coronavirus. He also doesn’t plan on making a move towards recruiting at this time.
Dabo Swinney was very thoughtful on coronavirus just now, especially considering he had about 30 seconds to process Clemson’s online class news before he spoke to the media. No major decisions have been made about practice or recruiting after break. He’ll listen to experts/admin

Dabo says no Plan B in place for spring practice at this point but w/9 practices in the books "I'd feel good about where we're at if we didn't have another practice." Said coaches aren't scheduled to be on the road recruiting for another 6 weeks, so won't rush a decision on that.

Clemson has not yet made a call on its spring game, but it certainly sounds like things are pointing to it not taking place. That is probably appropriate, given all that has happened in the country and the larger sports world in recent days.
