A Clemson football star has reportedly failed a drug test ahead of the Tigers' College Football Playoff matchup against No. 3 Notre Dame.

Head coach Dabo Swinney announced this afternoon that three of his players - including an All-American defensive lineman - have failed drug tests ahead of the matchup against the Fighting Irish.

Star defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence is among the three players who had failed tests.

Swinney says they are awaiting more information. There will be a "B" sample for the drug test later in the week.

"Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said NCAA notified DT Dexter Lawrence, OL Zach Giella & TE Braden Galloway they failed drug tests with sliver of ostarine. Players thought it was a joke at first. More clarity to come with B sample later in week," Jori Epstein tweeted.

Here's more information on the failed test:

The NCAA had notified Clemson and Swinney about the failed tests.

Clemson is set to play Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon at the Cotton Bowl. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
