Auburn will be Clemson's first non-conference opponent of the season. The Tigers also play Troy, South Carolina State and South Carolina out-of-conference.

Clemson finished the 2015 season with a 14-1 record. The Tigers won the ACC Atlantic, defeated North Carolina in the league's title game and knocked off Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. In the College Football Playoff National Championship, the Tigers were edged out by Alabama, 45-40.

Auburn, meanwhile, had a disappointing 2015 campaign. The Tigers finished 2-6 in the SEC West and 7-6 overall. They won the Birmingham Bowl over Memphis, 31-10.

Clemson is coached by Dabo Swinney, who is 75-27 in his time on-campus. Auburn is led by Gus Malzahn, who has posted a 27-13 mark in his three years with the Tigers.

Clemson and Auburn have met 49 times on the gridiron. Auburn leads the series 34-13-2 all-time. The two schools last met in September of 2012, when Clemson prevailed 26-19.
