Clemson football returns home this weekend, after an impressive 41-6 win over Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. On paper, Charlotte should be another easy win for the Tigers, but the 49ers have shown some flashes in their first year under Will Healy.
The 34-year old former Richmond quarterback has shown that he can put points on the board. The 49ers are averaging over 47 points per game in their 2-1 start.
Obviously, Clemson’s defense is magnitudes better than anything they have or will face this year. The Tigers lost immense talent on the defensive front, but overall don’t appear to have really missed a step from last year’s elite unit.
Georgia Tech, unveiling a new non-option-based offense scored 14 points in the season opener at Clemson. In the last two weeks, the Tigers have held vaunted Jimbo Fisher and Dino Babers-helmed Texas A&M and Syracuse offenses to 10 and six points, respectively.
Throw in a night game at Death Valley, and the Tigers should be fired up, even with a Group of Five opponent coming in. If you’re planning to watch this one, make sure to check local listings for ACC Network.

The biggest question for Clemson so far has surprisingly been quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The sophomore’s talent and potential is still very evident, but he hasn’t played a great game yet, and has made some sloppy mistakes.
Through three games, Lawrence is 59-for-97 for 831 yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions. Dabo Swinney says he’s not too worried about the potential future No. 1 pick, though.
One glance at Clemson’s remaining schedule probably explains it. The Tigers may not face another ranked team this regular season with Texas A&M in the rearview mirror.
The ACC looks incredibly weak, but as Clemson has shown repeatedly, that doesn’t mean the Tigers won’t be ready when the College Football Playoff rolls around.
