On Saturday afternoon, the Clemson Tigers faced their first true adversity of the 2020 college football season.

Earlier this week, star quarterback Trevor Lawrence tested positive for COVID-19. Former five-star recruit D.J. Uiagalelei took over as the starting quarterback for Saturday's game against Boston College.

Although the Tigers looked to be in danger early, the true freshman quarterback willed his team to victory. Trailing 28-10 at one point, Clemson came back to win by a final score of 32-28.

Following the win, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney announced that Lawrence will not play next weekend against Notre Dame. Uiagalelei will get the start against the Fighting Irish as Lawrence recovers.

Of course, that's massive news within the landscape of college football. Immediately after the news broke, fans started reacting to the news on social media.

Here's some of the reaction.

Of course, the college football world can't feel too bad for Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. The team replaced Lawrence with one of the top quarterback recruits in recent history - and he performed like it.

D.J. Uiagalelei might be a true freshman, but he showed he has all of the talent necessary to compete at the collegiate level. He completed 30-of-41 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns this afternoon.

He also added another 25 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Next up is a huge battle against Notre Dame.
