Dabo Swinney wasn't the most popular hire back in 2008, but now he's one of just five active coaches with a national championship.
Back at his introductory press conference, Swinney was asked if he felt that Clemson was taking a gamble on him. It seems ridiculous in hindsight, but at the time he was a 39-year old with no head coaching or even coordinator experience. As many drummed up this week, Pat Forde graded the hire a D-plus over at ESPN.
On Friday, Clemson put out a brief video revisiting that moment from that 2008 press conference.
The execution is perfect here.
Clemson has one of the best social media teams in college sports. Throw in a national championship, and the Tigers are really going to have some fun over the next few weeks. Or months. Probably a year.
