The Clemson Tigers have made a name for themselves recruiting top wide receivers and pass rushers, but are looking to add a huge name to their backfield in 2020. Five-star running back Demarkcus Bowman has been on their radar, and it looks like the interest is quickly becoming mutual.

Bowman is the No. 20 prospect in the Class of 2020, per 247Sports. He is rated as the No. 3 running back in the country, and the No. 1 prospect from the state of Florida.

According to Clemson247, Bowman recently took a two-day visit to Clemson to check it out. Afterwards, he told the publication that the Tigers are now squarely in the lead for his services.

Clemson quietly lured 247Sports Composite five-star running back Demarkcus Bowman of Lakeland (Fla.) to Clemson for a two-night visit this week. He arrived on Sunday evening and departed on Tuesday morning.

Bowman communicated to Clemson247 following his visit that Clemson now owns the standalone lead in his recruitment.

The five-star back is not without plenty of options though.

Just about every top program in the country, especially the ones in Bowman's native Florida, have extended him an offer.

Additionally, 247Sports' Crystal Ball Predictions are giving the Florida Gators the edge in getting his commitment with an 88-percent chance. Clemson, on the other hand, has a 12-percent chance.

The Tigers already boast a Class of 2020 that included nine four-star prospects - the second-most in the country.

Getting Bowman would give the Tigers the star playmaker that the program needs to potentially shoot to the top of the national rankings.
