Here's who texted the Clemson quarterback after he was drafted.
The Houston Texans drafted Deshaun Watson in the first round of this year's NFL Draft with the intention of the Clemson quarterback becoming the starter under center.
Tom Savage knows this.
Despite that, the Texans' returning starting quarterback made sure to welcome Watson to the franchise with open arms.
The former Clemson star revealed today that Savage was the first player to text him after he heard his name called.
The Texans are saying publicly that Savage is the team's starter and that they're comfortable with it.
It wouldn't be a bad thing for Watson to sit on the bench and learn for a season or two, either, so Savage playing well this fall could be good for everyone involved.
