On the night college basketball crowns a new champion, the defending college football champions made sure they were heard from. Clemson has landed one of the top cornerbacks in the country.
Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy four-star cornerback Fred Davis announced his commitment to the Tigers moments ago. He is the No. 3 cornerback in the 2020 class, per 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound Davis is also the No. 3 prospect in the state of Florida and the 33rd-overall recruit in 2020.
"I made sacrifices, I've been balling ever since," he wrote in his commitment tweet.
Davis is the highest-rated commit for Clemson in the 2020 cycle as of now. The Tigers currently own the No. 2 class in the country and are in the running for a number of marquee uncommitted prospects.
All 11 of Clemson's 2020 commits are rated four-stars. Only Alabama has a higher-rated 2020 haul right now.
