The craziness of college football was on full display this past Saturday. Upsets and dominant performances happened all over the country.
With the weekend wrapped up, Kirk Herbstreit reveals his top five players of Week 3.
Here’s his full ranking:
- Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama QB
- Dillon Gabriel, UCF QB
- Isaiah Simmons, Clemson LB
- Malcolm Perry, Navy QB
- Quez Watkins, Southern Miss QB
Tua dominated in Alabama’s SEC opener against South Carolina. He threw for 444 yards and five touchdowns in the Crimson Tide’s 47-23 victory over the Gamecocks. The QB from Hawaii continues to surpass expectations.
UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel led the Knights to a blowout win over Stanford. Gabriel completed 22-of-30 for 347 yards and four touchdowns. Many expected UCF to be in a close game Stanford, but it was quite the opposite thanks to Gabriel’s effort.
Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons had a huge game versus Syracuse. Simmons had eight tackles, two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss. Malcolm Perry scored six total touchdowns for Navy in a 42-10 win over East Carolina. He had 24 carries for 156 yards and 151 yards through the air.
Finally, Quez Watkins had seven receptions for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

Certainly some spectacular performances. Is there any player not on the list who should’ve been?
