National Title Game Ratings Down 15% From Last Year

Monday night's College Football Playoff National Championship contest between Alabama and Clemson, which featured five lead changes and 85 total points, was fantastic. But ratings for the game - when compared to last year's tilt between Ohio State and Oregon - were down. John Ourand of Sports Business Journal is reporting that ratings for the game were down 15% from last year.

The contest pulled a 15.8 overnight rating - still good, but not as good as what we saw last year.

Does this come as a huge surprise? No, most of us predicted a slight drop, considering the matchup. We'll see what year three of the playoff brings.
