2020 offensive lineman Paul Tchio is doing far more for Clemson than giving the Tigers his commitment. He's actively recruiting one of the top players in America to join him with the reigning national champions.
In a recent interview with The Clemson Insider, Tchio revealed that he's been speaking with St. John Bosco quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei about giving his commitment to Clemson. Tchio claims he told Uiagalelei that the Class of 2020 has the potential to be one of the best ever if he joins.
“I can’t wait,” Tchio told TCI recently. “I’ve been talking to D.J. a lot and it’s going to be cool linking up with him again and see all the rest of the commits again.”
Uiagalelei would be a massive get for the Tigers to be sure. Per 247Sports, he is the No. 6 overall prospect in the country, the No. 1 pro-style quarterback, and the No. 2 prospect from the state of California.
“This 2020 class could go down as the best in history and he needs to be a part of it,” Tchio said of his message to Uiagalelei.
The pro-style quarterback is already tipped to go to Clemson, with 68-percent of analysts voting in 247Sports' Crystal Ball predicting that he will be a Tiger. Pac-12 titans USC and Oregon have been given chances of landing the California-based star as well.
As it stands, the Tigers are doing an excellent job of recruiting for 2020. They have already received commitments from nine four-star players, and are favored to land several of the top prospects in the country.
Suffice it to say, Clemson is increasingly looking like one of the real recruiting juggernauts of the next few years.
