Report: Dabo Swinney Bans Clemson Football Team From Twitter

Dabo Sweeney is ready for his team to focus in on the football season. According to him, that means requiring that all Clemson football players must give up Twitter, which he views as an unnecessary distraction.

Here is what Sweeney told OrangeAndWhite:

"It's the world we live in, and there's a lot of good in it.The technology is fascinating, and all that's happened in past 10-15 years. But it's also very dangerous. We try to do a good job of educating our guys and correcting bad behavior when we get it. But then once as we get into the season, we'll put all that stuff on the shelf."

I have to say, I'd be furious if I was a Clemson player. While I do agree that Twitter can be a dangerous temptation for many athletes to spout off (see: Johnny Manziel) and some would be better off staying away, there are far more players that use the platform in a non-disruptive way. After all, where will all these players get their news now? However, the Tigers do seem to be taking it well:

See you next offseason.
