The initial College Football Playoff rankings were released Tuesday night, and college football’s No. 1 team in the four-team playoff is the Clemson Tigers from the ACC. Following the Tigers at No. 2 is the LSU Tigers from the SEC, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes from the Big Ten and the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide, the second representative from the SEC.
One of those four teams will be knocked out of the top-four this Saturday, as Alabama hosts LSU in college football’s game of the week. The College Football Playoff rankings do not reflect the rankings in the AP top 25, as the Crimson Tide are still ranked No. 7 in the poll and LSU is ranked No. 4. Secondary market Alabama tickets for this weekend’s game have an average ticket price of $321.57 with a get-in price of $153, which is the most expensive game in college football this week.
The second most expensive tickets on the secondary market are for the ACC’s biggest matchup of the season between the Clemson Tigers and Florida State Seminoles. The Tigers will be protecting their top spot in the College Football Playoff for the first time against their conference rival at Clemson Memorial Stadium. Tickets to the game have an average price of $249.88 with a get-in price of $110, as FSU plays the unfamiliar role of spoiler.
Taking the third spot is the Pittsburgh Panthers in their most important home game of the season against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Hipmunk.com has Pittsburgh flight deals for fans flying in to see the Irish, in addition to Hipmunk having hotels near Heinz Field starting from $97 to complete the road trip. The average ticket price $190.39 with a get-in price of $60, as Notre Dame looks to improve upon its No. 5 spot in the initial College Football Playoff rankings.
Even with the initial rankings for the college football playoff being released, they’re much to do about nothing as there are plenty of marquee games and championship games left on the schedule for a majority of teams involved in the discussion.
