Dabo Swinney Comments On Trevor Lawrence's Struggles vs. Louisville

Trevor Lawrence throws up his hands during a college football game at North Carolina. He is the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft as of now.

Clemson cruised to a 45-10 win over Louisville today. Trevor Lawrence wound up with a pretty respectable statline, but it came after a rough start.

The star quarterback threw a pair of interceptions just a few minutes apart early in the game. Turnovers have been an issue this season for the sophomore quarterback, after he was pretty safe with the ball as a freshman.

The rest of the game went much better for the potential 2021 No. 1 pick.

Lawrence finished completing 20-of-29 throws for 233 yards and three touchdowns, with 47 rushing yards as well. Clemson was aided by a massive game by Travis Etienne, who ran for 192 yards and a score on just 14 carries.

After the game, Dabo Swinney touched on his quarterback's day. He compared him to former Clemson star Deshaun Watson, citing both players' abilities to shake off bad throws and make big plays when they're needed most.

Swinney has to hope that continues to be the case for Lawrence and the offense. Clemson should walk to the College Football Playoff with how easy the ACC schedule is this year, but that also means the Tigers have no margin for error, unlike their counterparts in the SEC and elsewhere in college football this season. Once there, it will be harder for Lawrence to get away with a pair of bad interceptions against the likes of Alabama and Ohio State, as well. On the season, Trevor Lawrence has 1,534 yards, 14 touchdowns, and eight interceptions after today's game. He has 30 touchdowns but just four interceptions all of last season. [

Dabo Swinney said Trevor Lawrence made four bad plays and “they were really bad,” but came back and played some of his best football. “He’s just like Deshaun Watson,” said Swinney, referencing Watson’s ability to not let a few bad throws affect his entire game.
