Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has garnered high praise from college football fans and national media after a stellar freshman year.

In a Fox Sports preview this past weekend of the upcoming college football season, an elite former head coach commented on the Tigers' young QB.

Urban Meyer, three-time national champion and now Fox Sports analyst, had this to say regarding Lawrence.

"I think Dabo Swinney, as long as he can keep that team together … the quarterback is the best quarterback in college football, ever," Meyer said, via 247Sports. "But what about the rest of the team? Are they going to stay focused and keep swinging like they did last year?”

Certainly high praise considering the elite quarterbacks Meyer has coached throughout his career during his time at Florida, Ohio State and Utah.

But the praise is certainly deserved after Lawrence threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns en route to a 44-16 championship win over Alabama.

The Tigers will begin the 2019 season with one goal in mind — to win back-to-back championships, a feat rarely accomplished in all of sports.

"It’s very hard to repeat,” Meyer said regarding Clemson. “The game changes, your team changes, your staff changes. Look at the NFL, Major League Baseball, the NBA. .. it’s very hard to repeat."

Meyer makes a compelling point, but with a quarterback like Lawrence Clemson has just as good a chance as any team in college football. The Tigers open their season this Thursday, Aug. 29 against ACC opponent Georgia Tech.
