The Clemson Tigers open their season on Thursday evening against ACC opponent Georgia Tech.
The Tigers are expected to once again be one of the best teams in the country. Many national experts predict a blowout win for Clemson.
If Georgia Tech has any chance at an upset, they'll have to shut down a potent offense led by quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns in his freshman season.
On the defensive side of the ball, there will be plenty of new faces — especially along the defensive line. The Tigers will have to replace players like Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence among others.
Despite the roster turnover on the defensive side of the ball, a Vegas computer is predicting a Clemson victory.
OddShark's computer prediction has Clemson winning by nearly 40 points. The official prediction is a 55.0-16.8 Clemson win.
The prediction isn't all that surprising, especially considering it's a home game for the Tigers. A 40-point victory would be quite the opening statement against a conference opponent.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney isn't taking Yellow Jackets lightly though.
"To be quite honest with you, we don't know a lot about Georiga Tech," Swinney said, via 247Sports. "Openers are always tough and then you throw in the fact that you’re playing an ACC opponent. And then number two it’s a whole new staff. That’s a challenge."
The Tigers and Yellow Jackets play Thursday at 8 PM ET. It'll be on ACC Network.
