Video: Clemson's Robert Smith Ejected For Targeting After Questionable Call

There's no doubt that the automatic review rule regarding the targeting penalty has helped college football. Thursday night, however, the referees still found a way to make a very questionable call in the Clemson vs. Wake Forest game. Early in the fourth quarter, Demon Deacons wideout Cam Serigne was lit up by Tigers safety Robert Smith. Smith didn't lead with his helmet, and hit Serigne square in the chest. Still, he was hit with a targeting penalty, which means he was ejected from the game and will have to sit out half of his team's next game, which is against Georgia Tech. Here's the clip:

Clemson currently leads 27-20 late.
