Alabama vs. Clemson IV has been wild so far, with three touchdowns in less than five minutes of game time.
After the first score, a pick six thrown by Tua Tagovailoa to Clemson’s A.J. Terrell, a person ran onto the field.
The easy assumption was that the person was an overzealous Clemson fan celebrating the quick score.
That doesn’t appear to be the case.
ESPN’s Marty Smith is on the sideline, and got video of the person as she was dragged off the field.
The field rusher had a sign with her, and while it is unclear what it says, there is pretty clearly a face drawn on it. She was likely protesting something, but we don’t know for sure.
Marty Smith tweeted video from the Clemson sideline, showing the field rusher being taken away by authorities.
From the ESPN personality:
So this lady ran on the field.
Police removed her. pic.twitter.com/wdYoZWty5a

The woman in question is wearing pink and doesn’t seem like she has an obvious affiliation.
Of course, with ticket prices dropping drastically during the week due to myriad factors, if someone wanted to make a statement, it cost less than it usually would for a stage like this.
