Coach K Issues Major Injury Update For Tre Jones

The Duke Blue Devils currently own the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll, but a recent loss to the Syracuse Orange will certainly change that. Duke lost its second game of the season earlier this week in an overtime thriller that saw Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett record double-doubles.

Despite the loss, Duke fans were more concerned with who wasn't on the floor in the late going, rather than the solid performances from Williamson and Barrett.

The Blue Devils took the floor in the second half without star point guard Tre Jones, who went down in the first half with a shoulder injury.

Jones collided with Frank Howard of the Orange and did not come back onto the floor after suffering the injury. On Thursday afternoon, coach Mike Krzyzewski gave an update on Jones' shoulder injury.

When talking about his availability, Coach K said "I don't know if it's for [the Arizona] game or the next game, but it's not going to be long term."

It's great news for Duke fans everywhere who want to see the best version of the Blue Devils on the floor every night. Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett might be the best players on the team, but Jones is the heartbeat.

Without him on the floor, the Blue Devils don't look - and play - the same. Next up for Duke is a contest against No. 4 Virginia on Saturday night.
