Duke suffered its biggest loss of the season on Wednesday night, as the No. 6 Blue Devils were crushed by N.C. State, 88-66.
Coach K had an honest assessment of his team’s performance following the game. He said the effort simply wasn’t there.
“Sometimes when you’ve eaten a lot, you’re not as hungry,” he told reporters after the loss, per ESPN’s David M. Hale.
“Our team obviously tonight didn’t feel like they needed the win. You have to stay hungry while you’re winning at that level because we’re not a team at that level, we’ve just won that many games and tonight we were not competitive.”
Coach K’s postgame handshake with N.C. State head coach Kevin Keatts has gone viral on social media. He appears to blow by the Wolfpack’s coach.
