One of the top recruits in college basketball is making significant progress in his recruitment process. We’ll have to wait longer until DJ Steward announces his commitment, but he did reveal the final eight teams on his list.
Steward is the No. 27 overall recruit and No. 6 combo guard, per 247Sports. The Chicago native is also the top player from his hometown.
Prior to Steward’s list of suitors coming out, the Duke Blue Devils were considered the leader for his commitment. They should be feeling pretty confident about their chances after seeing his latest announcement.
Duke is one of the eight teams remaining in the mix for Steward. His list also includes DePaul, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, North Carolina and Texas.
“I would like to take this time to thank all of the schools that offered me a scholarship,” Steward wrote on Twitter. “To be given an opportunity to attend a great school and be a part of a great basketball program. It’s a blessing and I don’t take it lightly.”

Although there are eight teams in the hunt for Steward, Duke has to feel like it’s in the driver’s seat. After all, five-star commit Jalen Johnson is actively trying to recruit him.
Steward could potentially make more cuts to his list as he inches closer to his decision.
