Duke 5-Star Freshman PG Derryck Thornton Is Reportedly Transferring

Derryck Thornton, a five-star freshman point guard, is reportedly transferring from Duke.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard out of Findlay Prep (Nevada) was originally a member of the 2016 recruiting class, but he re-classified to the 2015 class. He was ranked the No. 3 PG and No. 14 player overall by 247 Sports' Composite Rankings

Thornton averaged 7.1 points and 2.6 assists per game for the Blue Devils, playing 26 minutes a game.

This is likely because of playing time. Duke is bringing in another heralded recruiting class which includes five-star point guard Frank Jackson. The Blue Devils could also play Grayson Allen at point guard.

Duke is expected to be a national title contender in 2016-17.
