Duke Basketball: Mike Krzyzewski On Meeting Beyonce For The First Time: "I Felt 13"

Mike Krzyzewski is one of the greatest coaches in the history of sports. Between his roles as head coach of Duke Men's Basketball and Team USA, Krzyzewski has coached many of the greatest players in the world. So which celebrity made Coach K feel like a teenager when he met her for the first time? Beyonce, of course.

During a town hall interview with WRAL, Krzyzewski described meeting the music megastar. Sporting News writer Kami Mattioli transcribed the interview.

He recalled Jay-Z, Beyonce's husband, sitting front row next to him and "Beyonce was over there. I wanted to meet her," he said.

"After the (event) was over, I had to get back and (the photographers) took a photo of me, Jay-Z and LeBron. My street cred is just bouncing high," he laughed, explaining the seminal moment of the night.

That's where it started to go wrong for the Hall of Fame coach.

"But I didn't get to meet her, so I went up and said 'I'm Coach K' and she says 'I just heard you speak for 10 minutes. I know who you are.'"

"So I felt like 13, and then I asked her — something I hardly ever ask anyone to do — would you please take a picture with me?"

Even though he is a legend, this story proves that Coach K is probably more like the rest of us than we know.
