Duke already has an absolutely loaded 2017 recruiting class, but Mike Krzyzewski still has his sights on a big prize: No. 1 2017 center recruit Marques Bolden. The Texas native is down to Duke and rival recruiting power Kentucky, but one fellow five-star already committed to Duke believes Bolden will join him in Durham. In a blog for USA Today, Jayson Tatum has a note about the efforts to recruit Bolden.
Of course we’re not done getting players in our class; we still want Marques Bolden!
I’m feeling pretty confident that we’ll get him.
We talk to him a lot in group chats and we hang out with him a lot on the trips that we’ve been going to over the last few weeks so we’re feeling pretty confident. He’s a big piece for us!
Tatum is the Gatorade Player of the Year and the nation's top small forward. Duke also has the nation's top power forward, Harry Giles. Bolden would give the Blue Devils a third top frontcourt player, and a fourth five-star.
Other teams can build championship teams through patient recruiting and development, but when it comes to recruiting in the one-and-done era, it is Duke, Kentucky, and everyone else.
