This will be the first Duke-Kansas meeting since their classic Elite Eight matchup in 2018. Kansas edged the Blue Devils in overtime en route to a Final Four berth.
The two storied programs last met in the Champions Classic in November 2016, also at Madison Square Garden. Kansas won a thriller that night on a jumper by guard Frank Mason in the final seconds.
Presumably, both of these teams will be ranked in the top five of the preseason polls. Kansas could be ranked as high as No. 1, with Michigan State looking like their main competition for that spot.
Led by sophomore point guard Tre Jones and another outstanding freshman class, Duke will also be slotted near the top of the polls.
