After a few years off, Duke and St. John's will renew their college basketball series next season.
Jon Rothstein of Fanrag Sports Network reports that the two teams will play on February 3, 2018 at Madison Square Garden, with a return game at Cameron Indoor Stadium scheduled for the following season.
St. John’s and Duke will begin a home-and-home series next season at Madison Square Garden, multiple sources told FanRag Sports.
The first game of the series will be on Saturday February 3rd, 2018 with the return game coming at Cameron Indoor Stadium during the 2018-19 season.
The Blue Devils and Red Storm have played 15 times since 1999, with the last game coming in 2015—a 77-68 Duke win at Madison Square Garden.
During that stretch, Duke is 12-3 over St. John's, with the sole Red Storm wins coming in 2000, 2003, and 2011. The Blue Devils have outscored the Red Storm 1,187-1,002 in those games. Overall, the two programs have played 22 times dating back to 1932, with Duke holding a 16-6 all-time record in the series.
It will be interesting to see what the two programs look like next February when they show down at the Garden. Duke will likely lose a number of their top freshmen, while the Johnnies have steadily improved under Chris Mullin this year after a woeful first season in 2015-16.
