Duke basketball has scheduled an upcoming non-conference game against an opponent that reached this year's Elite Eight.

The Blue Devils will play Texas Tech at Madison Square Garden in New York City in December 2018, according to CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.

A date for the game has not been reported.

Both Duke and Texas Tech reached the Elite Eight this season. It was the first Elite Eight trip in program history for the Red Raiders.

Duke fell to Kansas in overtime to finish short of the Final Four, while Texas Tech's season ended at the hands of eventual national champion Villanova.

Duke traditionally will play at least one non-conference game in the New York area as a way to take advantage of the strong fan presence in the region. Last year, they faced St. John's.

MSG has been like a second home for Duke in the past, but they've struggled at the World's Most Famous Arena recently. In 2015, the Blue Devils lost to Utah at The Garden, followed by a loss there to Kansas in the Champions' Classic in 2016.

This season, Duke fell to St. John's. They'll try to change their mojo in Manhattan against Texas Tech.
