We’re halfway through one of the most hotly anticipated college hoops rematches of the year, with Duke at Virginia.
The Blue Devils won the first game at Cameron Indoor stadium by two earlier in the ACC season.
Today, Virginia is looking to avenge the loss at John Paul Jones Arena.
Things got off to a sluggish start for the Hoos, and they trailed by around 10 for a good portion of the first half.
Duke led by as much as 14 with just over five minutes left in the half. Virginia put the clamps down though, and outscored Duke 18-8 in the last 5:09 before halftime.
Ahead of the second half, ESPN’s Basketball Power Index gives Duke just over a 60-percent chance to hold on against Virginia.
All things considered, Virginia fans should feel pretty decent being down just four.
BPI had Duke’s win probability at 83.3-percent with 5:37 left in the half, after a Marques Bolden free throw pushed the Blue Devils lead to 31-17.
For Duke, it has been the RJ and Zion show.
RJ Barrett leads all scorers with 15 points on a red-hot 5-for-7 from three-point range. Williamson has added 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Overall, a usually mediocre shooting Duke team is 8-for-11 from three. Virginia is 5-for-10 from deep, and has had a much more balanced scoring day, with eight scorers all between two and eight points, led by Kyle Guy.
