The reigning national champions have some serious strides to make if they want to repeat what they accomplished last season.

Duke, which took home the national title in 2014-15, fell to No. 2 Kentucky in the Champions Classic Tuesday night, 74-63. The Blue Devils are a young team flush with talent, but the gap between them and the Wildcats last night was apparent.

That's OK, though. There's a long way to go in the season. Improvements can be made. Former Duke guard Quinn Cook, who helped lead Mike Krzyzewski's team to the title last season, posted the following on Twitter.

">@crazietalker they don't need to. It's just one game. Long long season ahead of them. They will learn a lot from last night. RiP DAD!

Duke will have plenty more chances for premier victories this season. The Blue Devils still face VCU, Indiana and Utah, among others, in the non-conference.
