Five-star Jalen Johnson is among the top uncommitted recruits in the 2020 class. That could change very soon.
Johnson is the No. 4 overall recruit in the country. 247Sports’ composite rankings have him as the top small forward in the class.
He’s down to four major programs. ACC powerhouse Duke is considered the favorite by many, while Arizona, Kentucky, and his home state Wisconsin Badgers are all involved as well.
As of today, Duke has 93-percent of the predictions in 247’s crystal ball. Johnson has cautioned against assuming that he’ll just wind up a Blue Devil, though.
From the Lexington Herald Leader last month:
Johnson maintains he doesn’t have a favorite.
“I see it. I don’t really pay attention to that though,” he said. “Because no one knows what’s going on in my mind. I know what’s going on. People can make assumptions on what they think. But, at the end of the day, I’m the one that knows, and I’m the one that’s going to make the decision.”
Johnson said he also doesn’t know the source of all this Duke buzz.
“I have no clue, to be honest,” he said. “I don’t show any favoritism, at least that I think. As far as (social media) posts and stuff, I feel like I show the equal amount of love. … So I don’t know where that came from.”
The Blue Devils are usually not a bad bet when they really want someone, but surprises do happen.
Two hours ago, Jalen Johnson said that his decision can come “at any moment.”
While much of the basketball world hangs on the upcoming word of NBA free agent superstar Kawhi Leonard, the college world may beat them with Johnson’s commitment.
Decision coming at any moment 🤫🙇🏽♂️ STAY TUNED 🤞🏽🗣

So far, Johnson hasn’t followed this up yet, but it sounds like we may find out where he’s playing very soon.
