Over the past few years, the Duke Blue Devils have become arguably the best college basketball program when it comes to recruiting. That trend should continue heading into 2020 as the team already has a pair of five-star recruits.
Earlier in July, the Blue Devils landed a commitment from Jalen Johnson. He’s the No. 4 overall recruit and No. 1 small forward in his class, per 247Sports.
Duke also has a commitment from Jeremy Roach, a five-star point guard from Virginia.
Johnson’s lending a hand to Coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke staff in recruiting, now that his decision is in. The five-star forward revealed to 247Sports that he’s actively trying to recruit three prospects to Duke.
“I’ve been recruiting DJ Steward, Mark Williams, Walker Kessler. … Those are the main three,” said Johnson, a 5-star wing who committed to Duke in early July. “There’s a lot of recruiting going on here.”
Kessler recently announced that Duke remains in his top six for list of suitors.
As for Williams, it sounds like his recruitment is down to Duke, Stanford and UCLA.
Johnson has made his recruiting intentions known on Twitter, commenting on Steward’s post about receiving an offer from the Blue Devils.

Steward is going to release the top eight schools on his list on Thursday.
With Jalen Johnson already going out of his way to bring Steward to Durham, it’d be shocking if the Blue Devils aren’t in his top eight.
Even though Mike Krzyzewski doesn’t need a lot of assistance to bring elite recruits to Duke, he must appreciate Johnson’s efforts to help bolster his 2020 class.
