North Carolina governor Roy Cooper declared North Carolina "the center of the college basketball universe" ahead of Saturday's Final Four matchup between North Carolina and Duke.

On Thursday morning, the state's governor posted a proclamation and accompanying hype video on Twitter. He ran through all the bonafides on both sides, as well as shouting out other successful in-state college basketball programs, before issuing his decree.

“WHEREAS, Duke and UNC are meeting for the first time ever in the NCAA Tournament, with this game coming in the Final Four; and

"WHEREAS, the most passionate fans in the country are more than ready to enjoy this great rivalry and to shout some things that are not normally part of their vocabulary; and

"WHEREAS, the eyes of the world are on these two great institutions, emphasizing the tradition of excellence in The State of North Carolina."

Fans and North Carolinians seemed to enjoy Cooper's grand gesture ahead of the marquee March Madness matchup.

Others honed in on him declaring Michael Jordan "the GOAT" while listing some of the state's most famous basketball stars.

The Tar Heels and Blue Devils will face off Saturday night at 8:49 p.m. ET in New Orleans for a spot in the NCAA men's national championship.
