Top college basketball recruits reclassifying up a year when possible has become pretty frequent. It gets the player into college a year early which, for many of them, means they’re a year closer to the NBA. For a while, it looked like five-star Paolo Banchero may do just that.
The class of 2021 product was weighing that option. Instead, he will reportedly stay in his natural class, and has two years before he’ll hit the college basketball hardwood.
According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers and Rivals, he is officially staying in 2021. He is also moving forward with some major suitors.
Breaking: After weighing option of reclassifying to 2020, Five-star prospect Paolo Banchero will REMAIN in the 2021 class for good and not reclassify, he told @Stockrisers. He’s also in the process of planning visit dates which include officials to Duke and Kentucky. Story soon.

Per a previous report, Paolo Banchero could visit Duke and Kentucky as early as September.
Weingarten previously reported as much, though if he can’t make it in the fall, visits could be put off until January, when the Blue Devils and Wildcats will be in the middle of their seasons.
With the decision to remain in the 2021 cycle, obviously it takes a bit of pressure off to figure the commitment decision out soon.
Of course, he could go with another school altogether as well. All seven predictions at 247’s crystal ball have him staying in state and heading to Washington. He also has offers from Gonzaga, Memphis, UNC, and a number of others.
Banchero is ranked No. 4 overall in the 2021 class.
