Last night, one of the finest installments of the storied Duke-North Carolina rivalry played out at Cameron Indoor Stadium, with Duke winning 92-90 in overtime. But besides the amazing on-court play, last night will be remembered for the moving tributes to legendary former UNC coach Dean Smith, who passed away on Feb. 7.
One of the most touching homages to Smith came from a large collection of Duke students, who wore navy blue t-shirts emblazoned with “Dean” on the front. Here’s a photo of the shirt, shown off by ESPN reporter Shannon Spake.

An awesome gesture by the Duke students who wore these shirts. Last night proved why this is such a fantastic rivalry, in more ways than one.
