Last month, it was reported that two of the top players in the 2015 basketball recruiting class, five-star guard Malik Newman and five-star center Diamond Stone, will be a "package deal." They had plans of visiting schools together and ultimately attending the same university.
According to a report by InsideMDSports.com's Jeff Ermann, that's no longer a guarantee.
In an interview with Ermann, Stone’s father said all that really matters is his son ending up in the best possible situation.
Bob Stone told InsideMDSports.com that the two will team in college if their respective recruitments work out that way, but a package deal isn’t — no pun intended — set in Stone.
“Our objective is to put Diamond in the best position to meet his goals and be successful and I’m sure the Newmans feel the same,” the elder Stone said.
According to Rivals.com, the two players are being recruited by Georgetown, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA, among others. Newman, the No. 1 player in the country, and Stone, the No. 3 player in the country, hold scholarship offers from basically every school in the country.
