It isn't unusual for teams or players to debut new customized shoes for NCAA Tournament games. Duke point guard Tre Jones will have a very special pair on tonight.

When Jones takes the court with his teammates for tonight's first-round game against North Dakota State, he'll be wearing a new pair of Kyrie 5's. The sneakers feature a dark pink ribbon in honor of Jones' mother, who is battling breast cancer.

Duke tweeted out a picture of the shoes moments ago.

Debbie Jones was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this month. Tre announced the news on Instagram. "We are writing this post so that this information comes from our family, and that we can answer any questions before they are asked," he posted. "Our mother, our rock, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. "We are fortunate that it was caught at an early stage. We want to let everyone know she is doing great and fighting extremely hard."

Jones and Duke are coming off an ACC Tournament championship. They own the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament.

Tre has won a conference tourney, which is something he has over his older brother Tyus. However, Tyus cut down the nets and won a national title in his lone season at Duke, so there's work still to be done for Tre to match that feat.
