Earlier: It appears Tre Jones could be returning to the hardwood for Duke in the immediate future. Although his injury initially seemed very serious, the freshman phenom has already returned to practice.
Jones suffered an AC joint separation last week against the Syracuse Orange.
The Blue Devils have done a nice job bouncing back without their floor general, which includes an impressive victory over then-undefeated Virginia.
On Tuesday, Duke continued its momentum with a 15-point win over Pittsburgh on the road. Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett accounted for about 64 percent of the team's offense.
Barrett has increased his workload by handling Jones' duties in his absence, but he could return to his normal role as soon as tomorrow.
Jones went on Instagram to post an image of himself with a cryptic message. It does seem like an indication that he is returning to the court this weekend.
Here is the post:
The standout guard is averaging 8.1 points and 5.7 points per contest for the Blue Devils. His ability to control the overall flow of the game and play fundamentally sound defense are two qualities that Duke can't replicate from anyone else on the roster.
Update: Fortunately for Duke, the wait for Jones to rejoin the team is almost over.
After Jones' post sparked intrigue, Mike Krzyzewski announced that he is probable for Saturday's game against Georgia Tech.
Even if Jones doesn't play for an extended period of time this weekend, it'd be great to see him back on the floor.
With Duke almost at full health again, its path for another national championship is becoming very clear.
