Duke’s shot at a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament this year took a massive hit on Tuesday night. The Blue Devils fell to a Wake Forest program that sits three games under .500 on the season – even after the win.
Head coach Mike Krzyzewski and company have plenty of work left to do this season after blowing a nine-point lead late in the second half. After falling behind early, the Blue Devils battled back to tie the game at halftime.
A late three-pointer from the Demon Deacons knotted the game at 75 and forced overtime. Trey Jones got to the free-throw line late to tie the game in overtime and send it to another overtime.
However, it was all Wake Forest in the second overtime, outscoring the Blue Devils 16-4 en route to a 113-101 win. Chaundee Brown and Olivier Sarr led the way for the Demon Deacons with 24 and 25 points respectively.
The NCAA March Madness Twitter account revealed this was Wake Forest’s first win over Duke since 2014.
