Saturday’s UNC-Duke game had all of the drama you could ask for from college basketball’s greatest rivalry. But Duke freshman Vernon Carey Jr. wasn’t about to rub the big win in the Tar Heels’ faces, and instead showed tremendous class and respect to the Blue Devils’ rivals.
Video from the game shows Carey running over to UNC head coach Roy Williams to shake his hand after fouling out late in the second half. Though the Blue Devils trailed at that point in the game, it was an exceptionally classy move from him.
Duke went on to win the game in overtime despite leading for only a handful of minutes the entire game.
Carey finished the game with 18 points – all in the first half.
Vernon Carey gave UNC the business all 1st half. He fouls out with 4:16 remaining and 0 2nd half points. The fans are the loudest they’ve been all night.

The two sides are set to face off once again in the regular season finale at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
If that game is even half as good as yesterday’s, we’re in for quite a treat.
