Grayson Allen is back.
No. 2 Virginia and No. 4 Duke went toe-to-toe this afternoon in a battle of top ACC programs. The Cavaliers walked into Cameron Indoor Stadium and stifled the high-flying Duke offense en route to a 65-63 win.
The Cavaliers carried a 10-point first-half lead into the second, but Duke came storming back. Trailing 63-58, Marvin Bagley hit a huge three to cut Virginia's lead to just two points.
On the inbounds pass, sophomore guard Kyle Guy caught the ball and got wrapped up by Grayson Allen and Bagley. Guy caught Allen with an elbow to the chin during the scrap.
Allen was less than happy with the elbow as he fell to the ground -- with a little flop added in. Guy then attempted to help Allen off the ground, but Allen had none of it.
Now, would we be putting this much attention into Allen's antics here if not for what we know already? Probably not.
However, after Allen's years of suspect tripping and actions on the court, it's hard not to take notice. Here's the play we're talking about.
Allen clearly gets hit with an elbow, but there's no need for him to react the way he does when Guy attempts to help him off the hardwood. In the end Virginia moved to 20-1 on the season while Duke falls to 18-3.
