Fresh off his Most Outstanding Player performance for the NCAA Tournament champions, Duke freshman point guard Tyus Jones took part in the festivities at today's Minnesota Twins home opener. Jones, a Minnesota native, was joined by Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett, who actually threw out the first pitch.
Jones served as Garnett's ball boy, delivering him the baseball from the dugout and receiving a warm reception from the home crowd in the process. As the public address announcer rattled off Jones' accolades when he took the field, the CBS theme music from the NCAA Tournament blared in the background.
Here's the video of the whole sequence, courtesy of Joe Perovich, a part-time on-air announcer at KFAN Sports Radio in Minneapolis.
Veteran Twins outfielder Torii Hunter caught Garnett's first pitch, and Jones shouted Hunter and Garnett out on Twitter after the game. Hunter responded with some nice words for the young guard.
