Videos: Austin Rivers Returned To Game After Receiving 11 Stitches For Gruesome Eye Injury

Austin Rivers has been heavily criticized throughout his NBA career, but no basketball fan can speak ill of the effort he gave during Friday night's playoff loss to the Portland Trailblazers. Rivers, filling in for the injured Chris Paul, scored 21 points and dished out eight assists, grabbed six rebounds, and didn't turn the ball over on the night. He finished +2 overall in the game, despite going up against star guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.

The most impressive part of Rivers' performance: he came back into the game after suffering a really gruesome eye injury that required 11 stitches after catching an inadvertent elbow from Portland's Al-Farouq Aminu. The squeamish may not want to look.

After the game, Rivers gave a very emotional press conference.

Rivers gained a ton of respect from basketball fans tonight. Portland's win eliminates the Clippers, who were playing without Paul and star forward Blake Griffin, from the playoffs.
