On Friday night, Zion Williamson left the basketball world in awe with an incredible dunk in the NBA Rising Stars Game. Instead of spending the weekend in Chicago for various All-Star festivities, he returned to Duke.
That's right, Williamson went back to Durham to watch the Blue Devils take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. To the surprise of no one, he received a warm welcome from the fans at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Williamson quickly became a fan favorite at Duke. Whether he was throwing down one-handed dunks or rejecting opponents' shots into the stands, he always found a way to electrify the crowd.
Although the crowd at Cameron Indoor Stadium didn't have the pleasure of watching Williamson on the hardwood this afternoon, the atmosphere was still great as usual. As you'd expect, the fans were on their feet when they showed the 19-year-old phenom.
Duke's players made sure they didn't let Zion Williamson down on Saturday afternoon. Not only did the Blue Devils take care of business against the Fighting Irish, they blew the doors off them in the second half. Tre Jones and Vernon Carey Jr. led the way for Duke with a combined 40 points and 11 rebounds. Alex O'Connell and Matthew Hurt also played well as they each scored 12 points. Next up for Duke is a road contest against NC State. [
