The elite recruit has flipped his commitment earlier in the week.

Xavier Peters, one of the top linebackers in the 2018 class, had reportedly flipped his commitment from Kentucky. It was reported that Peters would commit to Florida State instead.

Now it's official. The four-star recruit announced his commitment to a new program on Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect out of Ohio had been committed to Kentucky since last July. He was the highest-rated recruit in the Wildcats' class.

Peters had yet to sign his national letter of intent, though as he continued to consider other schools.

So what caused the switch? Well, Peters spent a weekend in Tallahassee just a few days before announcing his decision. It looks like the visit went well.

Peters, the No. 12 outside linebacker and No. 173 player in the '18 class per 247Sports' Composite Rankings, also held offers from Alabama, Georgia, and Penn State, among others.

It's a huge pickup for Willie Taggart as he looks to adjust to life in the ACC this season after coaching Oregon for just one year.

Florida State now owns the No. 15 class in the country and the No. 3 recruiting class in the ACC. Not bad for Taggart, who recruited well during his time at Oregon and South Florida.
