Five-star offensive tackle Calvin Ashley is ranked as the No. 1 player at his position in the country. Naturally, Florida State hoped that they could keep the Orlando native in state and bring him up to Tallahassee. Instead, Ashley committed to Auburn in late May. He discussed his recruitment at The Opening in Oregon this week, and had an anecdote about FSU assistant Rick Trickett's reaction to the news that will make Tiger fans grin.
"Coach (Rick) Trickett was pissed, I'm not going to lie," Ashley said while competing at The Opening in Oregon Wednesday. "He called me and we talked. He was a little upset."
Florida State is not totally out of things though. Ashley said he will visit Tallahassee in a few weeks, before making a long visit to Auburn, where he remains "100 percent committed."
