A 4-Star WR Recruit With Scholarship Offers From Alabama, Florida State, Giving Up Football For Soccer

Soccer is growing in America. The latest example of this trend comes in the form of a major high school football recruit. 

Drake Davis, a four-star wide receiver in the 2016 class from Virginia, is giving up football to focus on soccer. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound wideout is the No. 63 overall prospect in 247Sports' Composite rankings.

Davis, the No. 10 wide receiver in his class according to 247Sports, holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Florida State, LSU, and Miami, among others.

“This is a decision he made in the spring and he’s stuck with it,” said Fork Union head coach Brian Hurlocker. “I don’t push the kid to play. It’s his decision. He’s a good kid and a good athlete.”

Davis is a major Division 1 recruit in soccer. He enrolled at Fork Union in January and ran track this past spring.
