ACC Memo Says Conference Network Launch Won't Be Affected By ESPN Layoffs

ESPN's mass layoffs last week have raised questions about the future of the upcoming ACC Network. A memo released by commissioner John Swofford assures members that changes at the Worldwide Leader won't affect plans for the Network.

North Carolina's David Glenn Show posted a copy of the memo sent around from Swofford on Wednesday to Twitter. In it, the ACC commissioner says that based on recent conversations with ESPN president John Skipper, there is nothing to worry about regarding the Network.

Last July, the ACC and ESPN officially announced that the ACC Network would be launched in 2019. In February, Florida State athletic director Stan Wilcox said that early estimates are that the Network will be worth up to $15 million per team per year by 2020-21.

We'll see how much talent ESPN will need to add to ramp up the linear ACC Network in the next few years, but the questions about the Network's future are very valid considering the breadth of the recent layoffs.
