Darnell Washington has the size and athleticism to be a rare talent at the tight end position. Recruiting analysts seem to think as much, giving him a five-star rating.
Washington is listed at over 6-foot-7, and 248 pounds. Per 247Sports, he has verified times of 4.78 in the 40-yard dash, and 4.46 in the shuttle drill.
35 teams have reportedly offered him. That list includes many of the top programs in the country.
On Monday, Darnell Washington announced his top 12 programs, featuring a number of elite college football programs.
Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, and Tennessee crack the list.
The Las Vegas native announced the group in appropriate fashion via Twitter.

So far, just three predictions have been logged over at 247’s crystal ball. Two have him heading to Tuscaloosa to join the Crimson Tide, with the last prediction choosing Georgia.
The site has Washington listed as an “athlete,” though most programs are recruiting him as a tight end. He ranks higher than any tight end in 247’s 2020 rankings, at No. 14 overall, and Rivals has him listed as the top tight end in the country.
He’s a multi-talented athlete as well. Washington averaged a double-double for his high school basketball team as a junior this past season.
